Why do my car component speakers sound as if the singer is singing into a paper cup?
I have Polk SR6500 components installed in the front bi-amped and powered by a 60x4 RMS JL G4500 amp. The Polks are connected to the amp with 14 gauge oxygen-free copper wire.
The Polk woofers sound like Charlie Brown's teacher when they should sound life-like. Are there any common reasons why component woofers would sound like this?
The first thing that comes to mind is eq settings are off. Mid set too high mabye. Try messing with the eq settings. Also the only other thing that I can think of is that 1 of the woofers might be wired in reverse making the speakers out of phase. Check to make sure the polarity is correct.
